2. Acer Nitro XV340CK Pbmiipphzx 34″ QHD IPS Gaming Monitor

The Acer Nitro XV340CK is an affordable 34-inch gaming monitor with ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio, FreeSync technology that eliminates screen tearing and stuttering, and HDR10 support. An anti-ghosting keyboard adds convenience.

But while this display performs well in most respects, its HDR mode is inconsistent across games and lighting, and its smooth frame-rate technology can be erratic on some titles. Its biggest weakness is its poor contrast ratio, and its color accuracy was subpar.

Still, the XV340CK offers a compelling alternative to pricier 144Hz monitors, and its overall performance was enough to earn it our Editors’ Choice.

The LG 27UD68-P is a hell of a monitor. It goes toe to toe with the best 1440p monitors out there with its 4K display, FreeSync support, and Variable Refresh Rate Range options, and it’s far more affordable. It offers a 16:9 aspect ratio panel with 3840 x 2160 resolution, a 27-inch IPS panel, and a 3840 x 2160 native resolution.

It has a 95 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time, 178-degree viewing angle, and 1 Gb/s max refresh rate. The all of its specs, the LG 27UD68-P should offer great color accuracy, accurate and consistent grayscale levels, and vivid and accurate colors. The FreeSync support means you’ll never have to worry about tearing, stuttering, or artifacts when gaming or watching movies and video games.

The monitor also has an excellent contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, which is great for gaming and watching movies. The monitor does have one serious drawback, which is backlight bleeding, which our video analysis software showed to be slightly noticeable at the very top and left sides of the monitor. However, we weren’t able to find any noticeable light bleed when testing the monitor ourselves. The 27UD68-P also offers decent input selection for a monitor at this price point.

It has DisplayPort 1.2 a standard HDMI 2.0 interface, and both USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports. The DisplayPort 1.2 interface is great for connecting external GPUs, and USB-C is great for quickly connecting and charging your mobile devices, which is nice when your mobile PC is plugged into the monitor.

The SAMSUNG CH890 is the best 34-inch monitor we’ve seen so far, with WQHD resolution, support for multiple video inputs, a 100Hz refresh rate, and AMD FreeSync technology. The HDMI input is always welcome, and we love the USB Type-C port for charging mobile devices, with the ability to use the display as an external monitor.

The USB-C port also supports DisplayPort, but you’ll need to use an adapter for HDMI. Unfortunately, the monitor has a poor backlight uniformity rating, and the uniformity issues range from minor to distracting.

The LG 27UK650-W is clearly a high-end monitor, its 4K resolution makes it ideal for both gaming and casual use, and the color reproduction is precise, with rich and accurate colors.

The 27UK650-W also has very good color uniformity, so you can view it from almost any angle. Its very fast response times and motion handling make it well suited for games, while its 99 percent sRGB color gamut and HDR support make it great for viewing photos and viewing HDR10 content.

The lack of a height adjustment is disappointing, though, limiting its use to desk-based work, and the fact that the 27UK650-W makes use of AMD FreeSync technology instead of HDMI 2.0, means that it can’t drive a 4K at 60Hz (though its 30Hz panel speed makes it ideal for gaming). This high-end monitor isn’t cheap, but if you’re serious about your games, it’s a solid choice.

The LG 2022 is an affordable 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate, and it’s the smaller sibling of LG’s ultra-wide 27-inch 2K monitor, the 2023. While it can’t match the performance of those monitors, it performs admirably for most users.

It supports RGB and HDR, and it outputs 4K at 60 Hz. It has a 75 Hz native refresh rate, which is the highest of any monitor in this price range. The 2022 has a native resolution of 2560 x 1440, which is higher than nearly all the monitors we’ve reviewed. It has decent color accuracy, though it can’t match the superior IPS panel of the 2023.

The monitor’s response time was measured at 16 ms, which is better than the average monitor. The viewing angle is also very good. It not only has dual 5W speakers, but the monitor also has several picture modes, including Cinema, Game, and Standard. It also has a gamer mode with game-related presets, an adjustable stand, and an adjustable VESA mount.

The monitor bundle includes the VESA mount. The monitor doesn’t have an IR port, so it can’t connect to an A/V receiver and TV, but you can connect it wirelessly to a TV with a Chromecast device.
